picture 1 picture 1Please pardon our mess while we migrate to a new server and software during June 2007. On our past, and future site, we have several pages detailing various groups, missions, and outreach opportunities offered at St. Paul's. We didn't replicate them all here on the temporary site, but just the highlights.

Coming Soon

06/27 - 07/22 Racism and Related Group Superiority This theme represents the chief value of conflict in the culture of the United States, because it emphasizes differential evaluation of racial, religious and ethnic groups. This study will look at our historical context as well as present day issues of prejudice and power from personal, institutional, and global perspectives. We will learn about who we culturally as individuals and the ways in which bias occur. Facilitator: Jim Martin

07/29 - 08/19 Immigration Following the issues of racism and power, we will look at our current immigration conundrum by examining U.S. policy and how United Methodist rose to the challenge. Are illegal immigrants bad people violating good laws or are they rational people making difficult choices to improve their lives and the lives of their family? Is there something we can do? We will discuss the plight of immigrants, immigration facts and policies, and the immigration ministries of United Methodist congregations. Facilitator: Jim Martin

Argentine Food Kitchen

St. Paul’s serves a noon meal on the third Friday of every month at the Argentine food kitchen near Cross-lines, at 646 Shawnee Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66105. The Red, Blue, and Green food preparation teams take turns providing food for the meal, and a group of approximately 10 people transports the food to the Food Kitchen and serves the meal, sometimes for as many as 300 people. More volunteers are needed to provide food and serve the meal. You can prepare a salad, soup or a batch of brownies, or you can purchase fruit, milk or condiments to supplement the meal. A volunteer is needed each month to pick up donated bread from Panera’s the night before the food kitchen. More volunteers are always welcome. Contact Cathy Matlack or Janet Podoll for information.
